Trumpeter 1/72 M1A1 Abrams MBT (by Murad Özer)

Today, there is a letter from Murad ..
Erhan..

Hello fellow modellers.

This Trumpeter M1A1 here is my second Abrams in braille scale but when compared to Revell’s recent offering which i had finished in 1st Gulf War colors, the detail in this one is rather sparse! Eventho i am not a rivet counter by any means, the major letdown for me was the lack of anti slip coating on the horizontal surfaces, which is a rather prominent feature of any modern afv not to be ignored. Fortunately it’s very easy to replicate with Tamiya basic putty heavily diluted via cellulosic thinner and than stumped with an old paintbrush over where the anti slip coating is supposed to be (do your homework, check your references!).

Paints i used for the basecoat were from Gunze 3 tone NATO paint set. Various Vallejo Model Colors on the vinyl tracks and for detail work were used as well.

Weathering was done with AK Interactive’s wash and rainmarks for NATO camo.

Thanks goes out to MiniAFV for displaying yet another model of mine and you folks for watching! Happy modelling all.

Murad Özer.

All being said it looks like an Abrams when finished alright, but Revell’s clearly the better of the two in this scale.
