Trumpeter 1/72 KV-2 M1940 (Burak Çınar)

1/72 Trumpeter KV-2

“Stalin’s Giant” nicknamed KV series were the heaviest and most powerful tanks due to its fire power and thick armour, in 1941. KV-2 was a tank in which 152 mm howitzer mounted on the early KV chassis. Although its legend was short, it was able to destroy many German panzers at range and survived with more than 60-70 AT-gun shots, in early engagements during Operation Barbarosa, in 1941.

This is a satisfactory kit from Trumpeter. I have built it for Armorama’s “Killer KVs” campagin. It has less than 100 pieces, and not any serious problems while making. I first spreyed it with Duplicolor’s lighter gren ton. I used “mopping up” technique for painting. It was my third experience for this technique, so surface of my KV-2 is thinner than my first victims, Pz-IIIM (Burak's Pz3 M link) and Churchill Mk.3. I have detailed just climbing steps, cutting the originals and cleaned there, then I pierced four holes on both sides of the turret to attach four clips. After painting I have not washed it and pass to dry-brush with oil colours. Then I used some dust.

I have not used any marking to use little AT-gun damages on the tank. There are about 40-50 gunshot scars, even on the barrel. This was inspired by Marshal Rokossovski’s memoirs.

Revell 1/72 T-72 M1 (Zafer Yılmaz)

Hello All!

This is my 1:72 Revell T-72 MBT in Iraqi colors. When I opened the box, I saw that kit offers an East German, one Finnish and one Iraqi version.I dont know why but I always loved desert vehicles more than all others.

JRevell had given Salahaddeen division’s decals from first Gulf war,1991. After a short search I found out that Iraqis had purchased new T-72s after war. It was starnge that Iraqi tank crew was using American helmets and T-72 tanks in pictures.Plus;I realised that Iraqi new T-72s have no schnorkel. It means I would omit it on construction.Building a new Iraqi T-72 would be wasy, all I need was a Iraqi flag! I stolen it from my 1:72 Fujimi kit, seems like I have build Mig-21 in Syrian or Afgan colors now!

Building the kit was fun at all.I used % 80 Gunze sandy yellow + 20 White for whole hull.
I lightened the oaint with more white and sprayed some areas to creat a ‘weathered’ effect.
Chipping (used dark grey and red brown mix) was applied around the turret hatches a bit. I didnt want a very worn look; remember that those tanks are recently bought from Ukraine!

Wash was done by Mig black washing liquid, matt coat was from Modelmaster. After all painting affairs,I applied dust from Tamiya’s weathering set to skirts and wheels. The antenna was made from melted sprue.

JI admit that I am pleased with result. My only regret is I didnt spend time on external fuel tanks, careful eyes may see that thay need some more sanding.Well, this is a desert vehicle, not miss Venezuela! Who cares?

I guess my next 1:72nd scale AFV will be a T-80..

Happy modelling to all...

Revell 1/72 M60A3 (Erhan Atalay)

A good example of a modern series of AFV produced by Revell. Was built a long time ago. Completed before the Egyptian army in a desert tank. I did not like:) I painted over again with olive drab. Paint, varnish, dekal, varnish, weathering, varnish, paint and varnish again, etc. stages. What was the result ? A thick paint, details have disappeared. I made a very amateurish job.  Over the years, was broken in the wind sensor, and a barrel of machine guns (M-85, Cal.50)

I wrote review of this kit for Armorama. But with the Turkish language.

Ace 1/72 BMP-2D Afghanistan (Burak Özdil)

A Russian tank from Burak Özdil. It's a Ace. Ace is producing no alternative vehicles but mold quality is very bad.  Very nice building but Burak can't take best photos :)

Thank you Burak, I'm not complete this kit, it's waiting to go to scrap...
